Perez Goes Yard in 11-4 Knights Loss

CHARLOTTE, NC – The Charlotte Knights dropped Thursday’s game to the Buffalo Bisons 11-4 in their first loss of the series. Charlotte was unable to keep Buffalo’s bats in check and the visitors pounded out 17 hits off the Knights pitching staff.

The ballgame was close throughout the first five innings. The Bisons managed a pair of runs in the top of the third; however, the Knights responded with the next two tallies. Riley Unroe’s RBI triple in the bottom of the third provided the home team with a spark and Junior Perez’s towering Home Run in the fifth tied the game 2-2.

The Bisons plated the contest’s next nine runs; four in the sixth, four in the seventh, and one more in the eighth. The Knights did push across two in the bottom of the eighth but never truly threatened the outcome.

Charlotte’s hitters displayed patience and coaxed nine walks to go along with their four hits. On the pitching side, Adisyn Coffey, Huascar Brazoban, and Shane Smith were all effective.

Despite the loss, the Knights still lead the series two-games-to-one and will look to right the ship on Friday night. Game Four of the homestand is set for 7:04pm ET.
