The Daytona Tortugas play game two of the Florida State League East Divisional Playoff series against the Jupiter Hammerheads tonight at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET.
Daytona enters tonight’s Game 2 of the best-of-three Divisional Series with its season on the line. Jupiter leads the series 1-0 after taking Tuesday’s opener 6-1 at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. The beginning of Tuesday's series opener was delayed almost three hours due to inclement weather and did not begin until 9:31 p.m. ET. Due to MLB rules, since the game began after 9:00 p.m., the contest was seven innings in length.
The Hammerheads broke a 1-1 tie on Jacob Lombard’s solo homer in the fourth inning before scoring three times in the fifth to pull away. The Tortugas finished with seven hits but went 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position and grounded into two double plays.
A Daytona loss tonight would end its season, while a victory would force a decisive Game 3 tomorrow, Sept. 11 in Jupiter. The Tortugas, who captured the East second-half championship after a league-worst 21-45 first half, are making their third consecutive postseason appearance and fifth in franchise history (2015, 2018, 2024, 2025, 2026).
Jupiter earned the first-half championship with a 37-29 record and is making its sixth postseason appearance in franchise history and first since 2023, when the Hammerheads captured their lone FSL championship.
This is the first ever postseason meeting between Daytona and Jupiter. The Hammerheads won the 2026 regular-season series 15-9 and, including Game 1 of the playoffs, are now 16-9 against the Tortugas this year. Daytona enters tonight 8-13 all-time in postseason play and is still seeking the first FSL championship in franchise history.
The Tortugas have reached the championship series three times, defeating Clearwater 2-0 in the 2015 Division Series before falling 3-1 to Charlotte, defeating Clearwater 2-1 under manager Ricky Gutierrez in the 2018 Division Series before falling 3-1 to Fort Myers, and defeating St. Lucie 2-1 in last year’s Division Series before falling 2-0 to Lakeland in the FSL Championship Series.
Tortugas RHP Ty Horn (0-0, 3.60) will make his fourth career professional start for Daytona. Horn was the Cincinnati Reds' 2026 third round selection (94th overall) out of the University of Nebraska.
Live coverage of tonight's game will be available on the Daytona Tortugas Radio Network with the Tortugas Today pregame show beginning at 6:10 p.m. ET.
