NASHVILLE - The Nashville Sounds (3-3) took a series lead over the Charlotte Knights with a 4-0 win on Thursday night at First Horizon Park. Five Nashville pitchers combined for the shutout while INF Freddy Zamora's two RBI and a run scored highlighted the offensive output.

After tossing two scoreless innings to begin the game on the mound, Right-hander Garrett Stallings had a 2-0 lead to work with when he headed back to the mound for the top of the third. Zamora laced a RBI double into the right field corner to score Ethan Murray, who started the half-inning with a leadoff single. Luke Adams added to the lead and scored Zamora from third on a RBI fielder's choice to make it a two-run advantage.

Stallings tossed a three-up, three-down top of the third before handing the reigns over to Easton McGee who took the mound to begin the fourth and retired the side in order. Zamora collected his second RBI of the night and scored Jeferson Quero with a two-out, hanging blooper into shallow left field in the bottom of the half-inning to make it 3-0. McGee quickly retired the first two he faced in the top of the fifth before navigating around a pair of Charlotte runners when he allowed a single and a walk but did so successfully. The right-hander headed back to the mound to begin the top of the sixth and retired the first two batters he faced. Drew Rom finished the inning with a strikeout of Lamonte Wade Jr to make it six scoreless on the mound for Nashville. Rom escaped a jam of his own after surrendering two singles and hitting a batter in the top of the seventh by inducing an inning-ending 5-4-3 double play with the bases loaded.

Charlotte's Tyler Gilbert and Tyler Schweitzer combined to retired 10 of the next 11 Sounds batters following Zamora's RBI single in the fourth, including 10 straight through the bottom of the seventh. Sounds' reliever Jacob Waguespack took the mound in the top of the eighth and stranded a pair of runners after the Knights worked a two-out single and walk off the right-hander.

Greg Jones ended the run of 10 straight Sounds being retired with an infield single before advancing to second on an errant throw by Schweitzer to start the bottom of the eighth. The former 22nd overall pick used his speed to score from second and give Luis Lara his fifth RBI of the season and a 4-0 Sounds lead after the Brewers' no. 12-rated prospect snuck a single through the right side of the Charlotte infield. Quero collected his second hit of the night but was the first out of an inning-ending double play to send the game to the ninth as Nashville was unable to tack on any more insurance.

Waguespack got the first two outs of the ninth, including his third strikeout of the night to lead the way for Nashville pitchers. Right-hander Blake Holub was tasked to get the final out of the game and did so with a three-pitch strikeout of Sam Antonacci to secure the shutout win. The Sounds' pitching staff combined to hold Charlotte to 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position and stranded 10 on base in the shutout win.

With the series lead in hand heading into the weekend portion of the opening homestand, Nashville will turn to right-hander, and Milwaukee's no. 27-rated prospect, Coleman Crow (0-0, 3.86 ERA) on Friday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. CT.

POSTGAME NOTES

DOUBLE TROUBLE: Outfielder Eddys Leonard notched his third double of the season in four games with Nashville. Leonard currently leads the team in doubles (3) this season and is tied for second in the International League. Last season, Leonard hadn't seen his third double fall until April 23, 2025 against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. He posted 18 doubles with Triple-A Gwinnett last season and has a single-season career-high of 32 doubles with High-A Great Lakes during the 2022 season.

ZAMORE-A ZA BETTER: Infielder Freddy Zamora had himself a night as he went 2-for-3, with two RBI and added his first double of the season against the Knights. The 2025 Fan Favorite of the Year earned himself 18 multi-hit games for the Sounds last season and begins his 2026 campaign with multi-hit performances in each of his first two games played. Dating back to the end of the 2025 season, Zamora has recorded four-straight multi-hit games and has hit safely in each of his last six Triple-A games dating back to September 17. During the span, he is hitting .400 (10-for-25) with two doubles, two RBI, and three runs scored.

STALLIN' BALLIN': Right-hander Garrett Stallings made his first start of the season (two appearances) and shut the Knights offense down. He posted 3.0 scoreless innings, allowed three hits, one walk and fanned two batters in the process. Stallings streak of tossing scoreless innings increases 3.1 IP after Thursday night. He set his single-season career-high last season with five consecutive games without allowing a run (6.1 IP, 2 H, 3 BB, 4 K) from April 1-May 7, 2025, with Nashville.

LARA-BOARD!: Outfielder Luis Lara knocked in another RBI in Thursday's game versus Charlotte and tied Tyler Black and Greg Jones for the team lead with his fifth RBI of the year. He now has a RBI in back-to-back games after having two different stretches of three-straight games with a RBI during his time with Double-A Biloxi last year, his last came August 20-22. The Brewers' no. 12-rated prospect set his single-season career-high with six straight games with a RBI from April 14-20 during the 2024 season at High-A Wisconsin. Even after his 1-for-4 night on Thursday, Lara is hitting .375 through six games and is tied for fourth in the International League with his nine hits.
