Omaha Falls in Indianapolis 9-1

INDIANAPOLIS – The Omaha Storm Chasers (30-33/63-74) fell 9-1 to the Indianapolis Indians (37-28/68-72) on Wednesday night. Carson Roccaforte and Peyton Wilson both went 2-for-4, but the Storm Chasers couldn’t make a comeback after falling behind early.
Indianapolis got on the board first, scoring 5 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning off Omaha starter Henry Williams (5-5). The first run scored on a sacrifice fly and the second on an RBI single, then Williams gave up a 3-run home run to make it a 5-0 game.
Williams came back with a scoreless bottom of the 2nd inning, but surrendered a 2-run double in the bottom of the 3rd inning to extend Indianapolis’ lead to 7-0.
The Indians tagged Williams for 2 more runs in the bottom of the 4th inning on a solo home run and RBI single, and Luke Little took over with a runner on first and two outs to finish the inning down 9-0.
Little then worked a perfect bottom of the 5th inning and Omaha scored its first run of the game in the top of the 6th inning on Jorge Alfaro’s RBI single to cut the deficit to 9-1.
Matt Moore struck out the side with a perfect bottom of the 6th inning, Ben Sears pitched a scoreless bottom of the 7th inning and Lucas Erceg worked around a leadoff hit by pitch in the bottom of the 8th inning to keep the game 9-1.
In the top of the 9th inning, Omaha went down in order, finishing off the 9-1 loss.
The Indians will host the Storm Chasers again for the 3rd game of the series Thursday night. Left-hander John Means is scheduled to start for Omaha and first pitch is set for 5:35 P.M. CT.
