The Flying Squirrels (73-58, 30-33 second half) extended their season-high losing streak to six games, dropping the first game of the series to the Baysox (64-67, 35-28).
Vance Honeycutt gave the Baysox a 1-0 lead with a solo homer in the first against Flying Squirrels starter Miguel Mendez (Loss, 0-1).
Chesapeake added five runs in the second to pull ahead, 6-0. Tavian Josenberger hit an RBI single, a run scored on a balk and Ethan Anderson hit a three-run homer.

Richmond scored three in the bottom of the second to close the score to 6-3. With two outs, Zander Darby hit an RBI single and Jack Payton followed with a two-run single.
The stretched the lead to 11-3 over the next four innings. Anderson De Los Santos hit an RBI single in the third, Griff O’Ferrall singled in a run in the fourth, Honeycutt hit another homer in the fifth and Aron Estrada hit a two-run homer in the sixth.
Baysox starter Caden Hunter allowed three unearned runs over four innings and struck out four. Andrew Herbert (Win, 1-0), making his Double-A debut, took over in the fifth and threw four scoreless innings, allowing one hit with three strikeouts.
The series continues on Wednesday night. Left-hander Charlie McDaniel (3-4, 5.40) will start for Richmond opposed by Chesapeake lefty Joseph Dzierwa (3-1, 2.43). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
