Clarke Schmidt And Ryan McMahon Currently Scheduled To Rehab Somerset On Saturday
Bridgewater, New Jersey – The New York Yankees are currently scheduling for RHP Clarke Schmidt and 3B Ryan McMahon to commence MLB rehab assignments with the Double-A Somerset Patriots on Saturday, August 29. The Patriots take on the Akron Rubber Ducks (Cleveland Guardians) at TD Bank Ballpark at 6:05 pm.

The Yankees placed Schmidt on the 60-day injured list on 2/12/26 with right forearm tightness. He will be making his 2026 debut in Somerset.
Schmidt went 4-4 with a 3.32 ERA and 73 K over 78.2 IP for the Yankees in 2025.
Selected by the Yankees in the first round (16th overall) in the 2017 MLB Draft out of South Carolina, Schmidt has an MLB career 23-24 record, 3.82 ERA and 384 K across 393.1 IP in 97 games (67 starts).
He has previously rehabbed in Somerset in 2021, 2024 and 2025. Last season in two starts with the Patriots, Schmidt went 7.1 scoreless IP and recorded 11 K.

The Yankees placed McMahon on the 10-day injured list on 8/20/26 with a left thumb sprain. McMahon is hitting .216/.282/.367 with 29 R, 60 H, 10 HR and 32 RBI in 106 games this year.
In his first season with the Yankees in 2025, McMahon hit .208/.308/.333 with 20 R, 33 H, 4 HR and 18 RBI in 54 games played.
Originally drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the second round (42nd overall) of the 2013 MLB Draft, the Yankees acquired McMahon in a trade with the Colorado Rockies for RHP Josh Grosz and LHP Griffin Herring on July 25, 2025.
McMahon has an MLB career .237/.319/.413 slash line with 498 R, 905 H, 187 2B, 11 3B, 154 HR and 502 RBI in 1,170 games played for Colorado (2017-2025) and the Yankees (2025-Current).
Schmidt and McMahon become the fifth and sixth different Yankee to rehab with Somerset this season. McMahon becomes the 48th different Yankee to join the Patriots for an MLB rehab assignment since becoming the team’s Double-A affiliate in 2021.
