'Gades lose final home game of the regular season to explosive Brooklyn offense

Wappingers Falls, N.Y. – The Hudson Valley Renegades fell to the Brooklyn Cyclones 5-2 on Sunday afternoon at Heritage Financial Park in the Renegades’ final home game of the regular season.

The Renegades have won 16 of their last 21 games, their best 21-game stretch this season.

The Renegades scored their runs in the third and fourth innings. Each run was scored by an early baserunner walking.

Of the Cyclones’ six hits, three of them were for extra bases. Brooklyn had two home runs and one double.

Hudson Valley pitching did not allow a run and stranded four Brooklyn batters on base through four innings.

Renegades pitching walked six Cyclones. Hudson Valley walked 37 Brooklyn batters this week.

For a second time this week, the Renegades scored first and lost. Hudson Valley is 38-24 this season when scoring first.

Cyclones pitching struck out 11 Renegades. Brooklyn struck out 61 Renegades this series.

Hudson Valley pitching struck out seven Cyclones, marking a second-straight game where they didn’t strike out double digit batters. The Renegades struck out 54 Cyclones this series.

The Renegades move to 15-8 overall against Brooklyn, 8-4 at home, and 5-4 in the second half.

Hudson Valley finishes the 2026 regular season 31-34 at home. The Renegades were 44-21 at Heritage Financial Park last season.

The Renegades fell to 2.0 games back of the Greensboro Grasshoppers for the second half playoff spot with six games left after the Grasshoppers won their game on Sunday afternoon. The Grasshoppers magic number is now five.

Renegades starting pitchers have thrown a combined 42.0 IP, 28 H, 9 R, 9 ER, 19 BB, 44 K in the last nine games.

RHP Danny Flatt (3.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K) allowed just three base runners and no runs in his High-A debut.

Flatt retired the side in order in his first High-A inning of work. He struck out two of the three batters he faced.

Cyclones batters twice got to third base when Flatt was pitching, but neither scored.

Sunday marked the first time Flatt has not allowed a run to score in an appearance since 7/7 with the FCL Yankees. It is only the second time this season that Flatt has dealt 3.0 scoreless innings.

SS Jackson Lovich (1-for-4, 2B, 2 K) has gotten on base in 15 of his last 16 games played.

Lovich grabbed his second double as a Renegade and his 19^th overall this season.

In 28 games with the Renegades, Lovich has ripped eight extra-base hits.

DH Eric Genther (2-for-3, RBI, K, HBP) extended his team-high on-base streak to 14 games.

Genther is hitting .288/.422/.519 over the stretch with 3 2B, 3 HR, 9 R, 11 RBI, 10 BB, 11 K, 2-for-2 SB.

Genther got hit by his 28^th pitch this season. He leads High-A in the category and is tied with Braiden Ward for the most in MiLB.

LF Dean Toigo (1-for-4, RBI, K) has gotten on base in 16 of his first 17 professional games.

2B Enmanuel Tejeda (1-for-2, R, BB) extended his on-base streak to seven games.

Tejeda is batting .333/.391/.381 over the stretch with 2 2B, 2 R, RBI, 2 BB, 5 K, and 2-for-3 SB.

2B Bryce Martin-Grudzielanek (0-for-3) saw his five-game hitting streak come to an end.

RHP Bryce Warrecker (2.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 1 HR) has gone five straight outings with more than 29 pitches thrown after not having a single outing of that length all year.

Warrecker has thrown 35 pitches in three of his last five outings.

Warrecker has allowed an earned run in three of his last four outings.
