Silent Night: Renegades shut out for second straight game

Wilmington, Del. (Sept. 2, 2026) – The Hudson Valley Renegades were shut out by the Wilmington Blue Rocks for the second straight game in a 5-0 loss on Wednesday night at Frawley Stadium.

With the defeat the Renegades have dropped five of their last seven games after a stretch where they went 14-2 in a 16-game stretch.

The Renegades were shut out for the seventh time this season and have been blanked in back-to-back games for the first time since 8/1 and 8/2/2025 at Wilmington.

The Renegades had not been shut out in a nine-inning game since July 17 at Brooklyn.

Hudson Valley has been held without a run for 19.0 straight innings, having not scored since the fourth inning of Sunday’s game against Brooklyn. The offense has managed seven hits and 13 walks in that span but has left 19 runners on base.

The Renegades went 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position on Wednesday night.

The Renegades were held without a hit until the top of the eighth inning when Jackson Lovich lined a one-out single to right-center to break up the no-hit bid.

For the second straight game, Renegades were held to just two hits but managed to draw seven walks and were hit by a pitch. They loaded the bases in the first and eighth innings but were unable to score.

Hudson Valley fell to 11-15 this season against the Blue Rocks.

LHP Pico Kohn (3.2 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 4 BB, 6 K) struck out six batters across 3.2 innings in his sixth appearance of the season.

Kohn departed the game with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the fourth. Teo Banks lined a two-run single to left off Jack Sokol to score two of the bequeathed runners.

Kohn has now struck out six-or-more batters in back-to-back starts. Over his last two outings he has recorded 15 strikeouts in 7.2 innings, a 46.9 K% (15 K/ 32 BF).

This was the first time this season that Kohn had allowed more than one run or walked more than three. However, three of Kohn’s four walks came before he exited in the fourth.

CF Jackson Lovich (1-for-3, BB, 2 SB) has gotten on base in 17 of his last 18 games played.

Lovich broke up Wilmington’s no-hit bid in the top of the eighth inning with a single off Gus Hughes.

Lovich stole two bases in the first inning after a leadoff walk, and now has 38 steals on the season, including 17 with the Renegades.

DH Maika Niu (1-for-4) had the only other hit in the game for the Renegades besides Lovich. It was an infield single immediately following Lovich’s one-out single in the eighth.

1B Kyle West (0-for-1, 3 BB, SB) walked three times on Wednesday and has drawn five walks in seven plate appearances in the series.

West is up to 18 steals on the season, and is two stolen bases shy of becoming the first Renegades player ever to hit 20 homers and steal 20 bases in the same season.

RHP Brady Kirtner (1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K) threw a 1-2-3 eighth inning, the only pitcher of the game for the Renegades to not allow a run. He has not allowed a run in two of his last three appearances.
